About Us

Katy The K9 Keeper was created with the goal to give families a different type of LOVING environment for their furry family members while they were away. Our Doggy Bed & Breakfast was designed to offer care in our comfy home with competitive prices (that are all inclusive), and our plan was to create a place where your furry family members would want to keep coming back. Well, it worked! Through word of mouth, we’ve met amazing families and dogs, expanded our services and have had an amazing journey!

We’ve grown, learned, and developed so much along the way! We’ve surpassed our 5 year plan, relocated to a larger home designed around the love of our company, and hope to continue steady growth! This isn’t just a business to us… it’s a lifestyle. Dogs create happiness and spread love - we want to ensure that they have that type of respect and care in return while their humans are away, and we love sharing that with the world!

Meet Katy, Charles, Michael & Myles… oh and don’t forget Javy!

Katy & Charles obviously LOVE dogs! Dogs have been in both of their lives from the day they were born and neither could imagine a future without them! This isn’t just a J.O.B - this is a lifestyle and one they love to share with other passionate doggy people. Katy is dedicated full time to KTK9K and Charles is in Management at IndyGo.  Between the family schedules, someone is almost always at home allowing for consistent care. In fact, dogs are never left unattended for more than 4 hours… another reason KTK9K is different from other dog care choices! As proud parents to Michael & Myles, the future PACK LEADERS, this group stays active and busy, ensuring your furry family member feels right at home! Katy, Charles, Michael, & Myles are so excited to see what the next chapters for #KTK9K will bring about and can’t wait to share with you!

We are 100% curbside - indefinitely… let us do the leg work! Just call or text when here and one of us will come out the back gate!

Meet Michael & Myles Cummins

Both boys are pretty much OBSESSED with all the dogs and just giggle at them when they walk by. They love to help with our guests and make sure everyone is safe and happy (take a look at our little video of our KTK9K setup below).  Little do they know that “poop patrol” will be one of their chores when older.

We are 100% curbside - so take a look inside our KTK9K setup! Such a homey place for your dogs next PuPcation!

Meet Javy Cummins

When he's not booked on modeling shoots for brands like Pedigree and Purina, he's busy helping us run the business and making sure all the guests are having fun.

Frequently Asked Questions?

  • Is Katy The K9 Keeper a one person business?

No. Katy and her husband Charlie live in their home with your pet. Two adult associates who live nearby also help with your friend's care.

  • Do the dogs receive exercise?

Yes. They have a (fenced in) back yard run many times during the day and unlimited play time throughout the day! They go out as needed in the evening and always have late night and early morning back yard time. Many traditional kennels charge extra for exercise... KTK9K's rates include unlimited love, roaming the house, belly rubs, play time, and exercise.

  • Do your prices change or are they always the flat rate?

In our Services and Rates section you will see that our rates are FLAT - all the care your friend gets at KTK9K is included...however, due to our limited space and how holidays are HIGH DEMAND, yes the rate does increase by $5.00 per pet/per day - it is all explained there and we are happy to answer any questions for you personally.

  • Do you give medications if needed?

Yes. We know how to properly administer medications to your friend. Please write out the instructions for any meds.

  • What ages do you accept at KTK9K?

Dogs must be at least 12 months old, house broken, and up to date on puppy shots. There is no maximum age, and if you have a senior citizen who needs some quiet time away from more playful dogs, no worries...we have a doggy room and several ways to accomodate your friend's needs. This is one reason we suggest a Meet and Greet.

  • Can you handle Special Needs Pets?

Yes. For example, we give insulin shots to diabetic pets, administer medications, and cater to your friend's special needs. We can discuss any requirements during a Meet and Greet.

  • Do we bring our own food? Toys? Crate? Blankets?

Yes. We ask that you provide your friend's own food for the duration of their stay and provide instructions on the Enrollment Form. If you want specific treats given, please bring those too. We have crates, however if you are partial to the one you're using, feel free to bring it. Since guests don't spend much time in a crate, we do not put blankets down. However, again, if your friend is used to sleeping with a favorite blanket/towel, please bring it along. We have sufficient dog toys, but include anything special in your dog's suitcase.

  • Do you turn down dogs?

Yes. If the Meet and Greet doesn't go well, if a dog's social skills are poor, or if Javy senses a problem, we say no thank you. We must do what's best for all our friends.

  • Do you have to turn down regular customers?

Unfortunately, yes. Due to our limited capacity, when we reach our maximum we must then say no and put you on a waiting list if you wish. This occurs frequently for holiday weekends, school breaks, Thanksgiving weeks, and the last two weeks of the year. Please reserve early - For the BEST CARE for your BEST FRIEND!
